Shield Residential · The Walkway Protection Program
Every sidewalk in the community, measured twice a year
For HOAs, condominium associations, POAs and CDDs. We scan every sidewalk and crossing on the ground, and our drone covers the open common areas from above. The board gets every lifted joint, gutter lip and low spot photographed, measured, priced and tagged with who maintains it.

What we scan
Every place residents walk
Fall and spring, every place residents and guests walk: every sidewalk panel and joint on both sides of every street, every crosswalk and curb ramp, and the walks around the pool, clubhouse and mail kiosks.
- Streets and crosswalks
- Sidewalks on both sides of every street
- Where the sidewalk meets the street: curb ramps, gutter lips and driveway aprons
- The accessible stalls and aisles in the clubhouse parking lot
- The walk into the clubhouse and its covered entry
- The pool deck, its pavers and drains
- The entry and gate walks into the community
Building interiors, roofs, structures, docks, playground surfacing, pool equipment and water quality are outside the scan.

Who maintains what
Every segment tagged with who maintains it
The sidewalk in front of a home can belong to the association, the homeowner, the city or county, or a CDD. We read the plat and the declaration with the board and tag every segment, so each item reaches whoever is responsible.
Items that aren't the association's come with a draft letter to the homeowner, the city or county, or the district.
How the board decides
Four choices, voted at a noticed meeting
Your manager acts within the spending limits the board sets. Every report is an official record owners can see.
U.S. Pave repairs it
At member prices, with a warranty on our work.
Until it's fixed
Barricade and signs, included in the program fee.
The board's reason
Re-measured on the next scan and kept on record.
Not the association's
A draft letter to the homeowner, county or district.
Residents and privacy
We scan the walks, not the homes
- Our ground scanner's cameras point down at the pavement, never at homes, windows or yards.
- The drone flies only over common areas the association controls, when they're empty. Never over homes or backyards.
- Residents get notice from the association before every scan.
- Faces and license plates are blurred before anything leaves our system.
- Our crew wears U.S. Pave uniforms, drives marked vehicles and checks in with the gate and the manager.

The sign and the report page
Signs go at the pool, the clubhouse and the mail kiosks, where the board approves. Residents and guests scan the code to send a photo of a problem. It goes to the community manager and into the community's record, and the next scan checks it.
For members
Your community's Shield page
After every scan the board and the manager get an email with a link: the map, every item, every decision and every repair, scan by scan.
- Tap a pin to see the measurement, the photos, who maintains it, the price and the decision
- Private to the association: sign in from an emailed link
- Management companies see every community on one map

Built by U.S. Pave
Our own scanning system
Shield runs on scanning equipment and software we designed, built and programmed ourselves. A drone scans the open common areas from above, and we scan every sidewalk, crossing and breezeway on the ground. Everything comes together in one measured 3-D model, one report and one proposal.
- Proprietary. Our equipment, our software and our data. You can't buy Shield from anyone else.
- Programmed with what we know. Every scan is read against Kyle, U.S. Pave's record of every condition we've found since 2012, and the conditions behind the Florida lawsuits we've studied.
- Sharper with every scan. Each scan, measurement and repair goes back into the system.
- Checked by a person. Every condition over the threshold is confirmed by a technician before it's priced.

On the ground
Our ground scanner covers every sidewalk, crossing and breezeway, with its cameras pointed down at the pavement.

From above
Our drone rig scans the open common areas, never homes or backyards, with every photo pinned to its spot on the map.
