What Are the Requirements for Parking Lot ADA Ramps?
A parking lot must have one wheelchair-accessible parking space for every 25 traditional parking spaces, and there must be ADA-accessible ramps.
According to the ADA checklist, those ramps must have:
- A width of 36” between handrails.
- A maximum rise of 30” for each run, but there is no limit to the number of runs.
- A 1:12 maximum running slope. That means a one-foot rise for every twelve feet in length.
- A 1:48 maximum cross slope.
